Your Journey

The process of creating your new smile need not be daunting. In the hands of our experience Dental Prosthetists, you will be guided through your Denture journey to ensure that you end up with Dentures you love to wear.

Below is a step-by-step guide of how we make this promise reality.

Initial Consult -
Primary Impression

This is your introduction to us, the process, and the journey we will take to create your new smile. This appointment is designed to discuss your unique situation, your expectations and to make you feel comfortable that together we can achieve your desired outcome. Once we understand you, we can present your personalised treatment plan with expected costs after health fund rebates and provide you an indication of your final smile.

The Journey Begins - Secondary Impressions

Now you have desired to proceed with the proposed treatment, the fun Begins. This appointment is all about creating the framework for your new smile. We will take secondary records and impressions and start recommending tooth shapes and shades based on your mouth size and desired outcome.

Bite Registrations

Your third appointment is to make sure we when can find a comfortable position for your bite. We can make you the most beautiful denture in the world, but if it isn’t functional and made to the correct jaw relationship, you will not be happy with the outcome. This is the least exciting visit in your journey, but is crucial to the final outcome.

The Preview

This is where all the prep work from previous appointments comes to life. At this visit, you fill “Try=in” a wax replica of your new denture. This gives you a glimpse at your new smile and allows you to provide us with any feedback for changes before finalising your new smile. This is also crucial for us to confirm our registrations, and check the aesthetics and function of your new denture.

The Big Reveal

The day we’ve all been waiting for, Insert Day. The completed denture will be finalised with any minor tweaks to the fit and bite before you take your new smile home for a test drive. Things may feel a little different to begin with, and it may take some time to allow your speech and tongue to settle to its new environment. Give the denture and yourself a small amount of time to adjust and we can make any necessary changes (if any) at the review appointment.

Care and maintenance

This is the completion of our new denture journey. This pre-scheduled appointment, approximately a week after you were issued your new denture, provides you the chance to provide feedback to our Dental Prosthetist for adjustments to make your new denture more comfortable. We will also go through the denture care and maintenance we recommend to get the longevity out of your new denture.

Recall and Maintenance

Your new smile is all shiny and looking a million dollars, and we would like to help you keep it that way. You are encouraged to come back to visit us every 12 months for a complementary polish of your denture. At this check-up, we can also assess if your denture is still fitting accurately and make sure there are no signs of attrition that may lead to future issues. Due to natural bone loss and changes to your oral anatomy, a re-line of your denture is expected every 2-4 years.
